Yoth is a location which appears in the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu Mythos.

Description[]

An unimaginably vast crimson cavern located beneath the subterranean land of Kn-yan, which is itself sited somewhere deep beneath the deserts of Oklahoma, Yoth was once home to the reptilian Serpent Men. The Serpent Men fled to Yoth after a long war with the surface-dwelling humans culminated in their defeat. Over the next few millennia they colonised the land and built many great cities across the face of their new lair, all under the watchful eyes of their gods Yig and Coatlicue.

Eventually, however, the Serpent Men sealed their own fate when they uncovered idols of the Great Old One Tsathoggua in the cavern of N'kai and turned their back on their creator, the Serpent God Yig. Showing his displeasure, Yig placed a great curse upon his children, forcing them to once again flee, the few survivors scattering to the winds.

In the modern day, little remains in the great cavern of Yoth, save for the infrequent ruins which were once the mighty cities of the Serpent Men.
