Voltorb is an Electric-type Pokémon that is marked as #100 in the National Pokédex. It has a near-perfect spherical body and is commonly mistaken at first glance for a Poké Ball.
Pokédex Data[]
Voltorb is a sphere-shaped Pokémon consisting of a red hemisphere and a white hemisphere. The red hemisphere is its "top" half, sporting a pair of perpetually frowning eyes. The full circumference of its body is 0.5 metres.
It is unknown what kind of material Voltorb is made from, though its "skin" has a hardened plastic quality to it. It was originally discovered in a Poké Ball factory in Kanto and, due to its similar appearance to a Poké Ball, is believed to be a Poké Ball brought to life by a mysterious energy pulse. Wild Voltorbs are commonly found near power stations and other areas with strong electrical fields. They feed on this electricity to sustain themselves.
Voltorb has a highly volatile temperament. If agitated, it may suddenly explode with the force of a hand grenade.
Abilities[]
- Rollout - Voltorb rolls around at high speed and rams into its opponent, picking up speed with each successive hit.
- Sonic Boom - Voltorb charges the air in front of it to create a super-fast projectile. It always deals a set amount of damage.
- Screech - Voltorb emits an ear-piercing electronic scream that causes its opponent to shudder, leaving them open to attack.
- Self-Destruct - Voltorb will violently explode, destroying itself and any opponents or allies in its vicinity.
Evolution[]
Voltorb evolves into Electrode beginning at Level 30.
