Violator also known as Clown is the intended mentor of Spawn on Earth, as well as one of the infamous Phlebiac Brothers. Spawn and Violator often clash due to Clown's persistent taunting of Spawn. He is Spawn's archenemy and the most recurring antagonist of his comics of him.
He is in charge of mentoring all new Hellspawn personally, and he also faced Medieval Spawn on one occasion.
There is also a special Violator Vol 1.
In 2009, IGN was ranked 97th on their "List of the Greatest Comic Book Villains of All Time".
Personality[]
He personally feels that humans are not worthy of the position of Hellspawn and often makes this point clear. He usually sees a Spawn more of a rival than a threat, as the two have feuded on many occasions. He will often motivate a Spawn or take advantage of their anger. He is naturally drawn to murder and maintains a casual demeanor while he does it, due to his own eternal life.
Biography[]

Violator is one of the five demon brothers Phlebiac. He camouflages himself in the form of "Clown" to hide among the realm of the living and has been sent back to the eighth sphere of Hell on several occasions for not completing his mission. He is powered by Necroplasm and can perform magic such as enchantments, possesses supernatural strength, agility, and cunning wits.
Origin[]
In the 16th century, Dr. John Dee summoned a demon, the Phleboton Spirit of the Upper Ayres. This demon had an insatiable appetite for murder and sex, and was offered Dr. Dee's wife to satisfy his needs. However, when Dr. Dee's wife gave birth to that spirit's offspring, Violator, she died in the process. The spirit Phleboton continued to appear and the death of the mother was the same result with each of the five children that the demon had with mortal women.
While he was growing up, Violator was often teased by his four younger siblings. His father often sided with him and punished Violator in the process. Finally fed up with the abuse, Violator retaliated and murdered his father. As a result of his cruelty, Malebolgia offered him a position as chief lieutenant in Hell.
Being the eldest of his five Hellborn demons known as the Phlebiac Brothers, he considered humanity to be weak and claimed that demons could lead the armies of Hell, not humans. Consequently, much of his earthly activities, sanctioned by Hell or not, are aimed at demonstrating his superiority over his master.
On Earth and the arrival of Spawn[]
The rapist was sent to Earth. His purpose was to train and prepare the young Hellspawn for service in Hell's army. Violator was not a demon to be taken lightly; he had proven many times that he was more than a match for a young Hellspawn. His latest commission is the current Spawn, Albert Simmons. However, his hands were tied by his role, as he cannot kill a Hellspawn without an order from his superiors. His role was to weaken them and make them waste their powers and wreak havoc. By spending all of his Necroplasm, the Hellspawn would be returned to Hell to serve in the Malebolgia army.
However, the Rapist started a killing spree and goaded the mob into staying low key rather than causing more crimes. Violator was fed up with "playing second fiddle" after every Hellspawn and attacked Albert Simmons. He was defeated in a battle by Spawn and Malebolgia punished him for doing the opposite of his role's intentions. Malebolgia imprisoned the rapist in his human clown form as punishment and bestowed deadly weaknesses on him.
