Vecna is a fictional character from the universe of the popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. He has been named as one of the greatest villains in Dungeons & Dragons.
Originating from the Greyhawk campaign setting, he was a powerful mage who upon his death became a lich and eventually achieved deity status in the standard pantheon. Vecna's holy symbol is an eye in the palm of the left hand.
Vecna is known as the god of secrets and his alignment is neutral evil. His titles are "Master of All Hidden and Secret", "The Whispered" and "The Mutilated", the latter being due to the fact that he lost his left hand and eye during a combat with Kas, his traitorous lieutenant.
His favored weapon is the dagger, and thus that of most of his clerics. Numerous magical artifacts owe their name (even origin) to this deity, such as the Hand of Vecna.
Description[]
Vecna is usually depicted as a powerful wizard who resembles a desiccated corpse with its left hand and eye missing. A constant theme in the adventures in which the character appears is Vecna's never-ending quest for power, ending, if successful, with Vecna as the only existing deity.
