The Vârcolac is a type of Bio-Organic Weapon that appears in Resident Evil Village. It was created by Salvatore Moreau, brought into being by injecting wolf blood into the spinal cord of a Lycan. Only a few Vârcolaci were ever created and were rendered extinct following the destruction of Mother Miranda's village in 2021.
Biology[]
The Vârcolac mutation occurred during Mother Miranda's experiments with the Mold, a fungal super-organism that assimilated the DNA of any life-forms it infected. Her servant Moreau, during one of his many experiments, injected wolf DNA into the spine of a Lycan, resulting in the subject's transformation into a much more bestial form. The subject grew to three times its original size and grew an excessive amount of hair all over its body. It developed a quadrupedal posture and its mouth expanded, growing many sharp teeth.
Behaviour[]
Whatever human intelligence the Vârcolac once had was completely destroyed following this mutation, making it more canine in its mentality. It will patrol its territory vigilantly, attacking when it senses potential prey or is attacked first. When attacking, it will charge and jump at its prey, savaging them with its claws or biting down hard with its warped jaws.

Vârcolaci are very resilient to small arms, so it is best to confront them with explosives or high-caliber weapons such as rifles or Magnums.
