in order to combat the use of alternate-accounts (until a suitable AbuseFilter can be fitted) we will be monitoring freshly made accounts (that is accounts made with a day or three of a known blocked account being blocked) - if such accounts are shown to engage in excessive edits they will face a three day block.. this is to stop badge hunting / edit scoring, as well as discourage the use of alternate-accounts.
Excessive edits include such practices as rapidly adding a single category each edit, if one seeks to add categories then do so all at once if possible - continually adding a single category to a page per edit will be regarded as a type of edit scoring unless a user can provide good reason why.
Other examples will be uploading a large number of pictures or generally making small edits to lots of different pages rather than focusing on a single page or topic, while we appreciate users who want to clean-up and so on we also are experienced enough to know often an account less than a few days old who suddenly starts doing these things is unlikely to be new to the wiki: in short, if you alt, we know.
Appeals can be made on Community Central if one feels a block is unjust however it is much better to simply wait out the three day minimum, chances are for a vast majority of users this will never happen anyway - we are happy to have new users but we will not tolerate alts used to bypass our rules.
