The Twelve Kizuki are an elite group of demons who serve under Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King and progenitor of all demons. They represent the strongest demons in existence, excluding Muzan himself. Each member is granted a significant amount of Muzan’s blood, enhancing their strength, regeneration, and abilities to overwhelming levels.
The Twelve Kizuki are divided into two ranks:
- Upper Ranks (上弦, Jōgen) — The six strongest demons; personally favored and often directly manipulated or watched by Muzan.
- Lower Ranks (下弦, Kagen) — The six weaker members, still far beyond the power of ordinary demons but considered expendable by Muzan.
Ranking Structure[]
Each demon holds a number from One to Six within their category (Upper or Lower), tattooed in their eyes. Their number reflects their strength — Upper Rank One is the strongest, Lower Rank Six the weakest.
- Upper Ranks are virtually immortal without sunlight or Nichirin swords, and have defeated multiple Hashira-level Demon Slayers. They have centuries of experience and unique, deadly Blood Demon Arts.
- Lower Ranks are still formidable, but considered unstable or inconsistent. They are often killed off or replaced due to failure.
Purpose and Role[]
The Twelve Kizuki act as Muzan's enforcers, assassins, and generals in the demon world. They:
- Hunt down threats to Muzan’s supremacy, especially the Demon Slayer Corps.
- Experiment on humans or serve as test subjects for Muzan’s goals of evolving demons.
- Spread fear, chaos, and destruction across Japan in his name.
Loyalty is mandatory, and fear of Muzan ensures obedience. Speaking ill of him or showing weakness often results in instant death, as he can monitor and destroy his subordinates remotely.
