Troll-5e

Trolls are beastly humanoid creatures in the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons. Aggressive and predatory, trolls are vicious beings with insatiable appetites that hunt and prey on virtually any living thing. They most often reside in mountainous terrain, but are able to survive in just about any environment.

Description[]

The average adult troll stands at over 9 feet tall. Some people classify trolls as a sub-species of giant, though neither giant nor giant-kin will attest to this. They have deceptively lean bodies covered in rubbery skin that is typically coloured mossy-green or deathly-grey. They regularly stand with a hunched posture and have long, hanging arms ending in sharp, curved claws.

Trolls are highly aggressive and spend most of their lives hunting for food. These voracious creatures would most often establish lairs near human settlements where prey is abundant, regularly attacking and preying on townsfolk and their livestock. In battle, trolls rely on brute force, swinging their arms to bash enemies or gut them with their claws. They also tend to grab and throw rocks and other large objects.

Abilities[]

  • Strength - Trolls rely on raw brute strength in combat and are capable of pulling apart an adult human with ease.
  • Darkvision - Trolls can see perfectly in the dark and in low light.
  • Regeneration - Trolls are infamous for their regenerative healing which allows them to recover from virtually all wounds. They can also regrow or reattach severed parts, including their heads. Even limbs that had been severed could continue to function and attack.

Weaknesses[]

  • Stupidity - What trolls have in muscle, they lack in brains. They are not especially intelligent or cunning, making them rather easy to outwit.
  • Fire - Fire is one of the few things that trolls cannot endure or regenerate from. Wounds caused by fire damage would arrest the regeneration process and continuous exposure to fire would kill a troll.
  • Acid - Like with fire, acid can also severely damage a troll and prohibit regeneration.

Sub-species[]

  • Fell troll
