Trespasser is a category-unknown Anteverse Kaiju that appeared in the 2013 creature feature Pacific Rim.
Trespasser was the first Kaiju to emerge from the Breach. Created by the Precursors as a Hound—an advanced biological weapon designed to hunt and eradicate humanity—its purpose was to clear the way for their colonisation of Earth. The creature emerged on August 10, 2013 (Also known as K-Day), accompanied by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. It landed in San Francisco, swiftly destroying the iconic Golden Gate Bridge before rampaging through the city. Over the course of six days, Trespasser wreaked havoc across San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento, advancing 35 miles into California's heartland.
Ultimately, Trespasser was brought down by a relentless onslaught of conventional weaponry from the United States military, the British Royal Air Force, and three tactical nuclear strikes. However, this victory came at a great cost. A significant portion of Oakland and its bay area was left uninhabitable, its environment severely altered by the radiation and the Kaiju's toxic biology, which continued its mission of terraforming the planet for its creators.
While initially believed to be an isolated event, the emergence of Trespasser was only the beginning of a far larger, global conflict.

Name[]
The name Trespasser is derived from the English word "trespasser," which refers to someone who enters another's land or property without permission. This name was likely chosen to reflect the Kaiju's role as the first to invade Earth during the Kaiju War. Additionally, it may serve as a subtle nod to the 1998 video game Jurassic Park: Trespasser. According to Travis Beacham, Axehead (often spelled Axe-Head) was the original nickname for the creature, referencing its distinct appearance, particularly the shape of its head. This name was used before the creature was officially given the name Trespasser. NECA’s Pacific Rim Series 3 action figure line included a Trespasser figure, and in October 2014, they released a special Deluxe Series figure named Axehead, acknowledging the earlier nickname. Also, Pacific Rim the Game also had Trespasser's name as Axehead.
Description[]
Weighing in at a colossal 2,780 tons and standing fully 302 feet tall, Trespasser was one of the biological weapons of war sent through the interdimensional portal known as The Breach in order to conquer humanity. The first of many kaiju to emerge from The Breach, like those who followed, it was an incredibly durable creature, impervious to any conventional weapons of the time.
Design[]
Trespasser is a vaguely humanoid kaiju, distinguished by its chitinous armor and a large, bony, axe-like appendage projecting from the top of its snout, earning it the nickname "Axehead." Similar to Slattern, Knifehead, and Scunner, Trespasser's main arms are actually two fused limbs, each ending in three-clawed digits. It emits an orange, bioluminescent glow from inside its mouth. Trespasser has a thick, dark orange and brownish-grey hide, which appears grey in the film due to the obscured true colors. Weighing a colossal 2,780 tons and standing at 302 feet tall, Trespasser is larger than most kaiju of its time. It also has a tail, though not as long as Slattern's.
Personality[]
Trespasser exhibits a relentless and aggressive personality, embodying the quintessential traits of an Anteverse kaiju designed for destruction. Driven by an insatiable urge to annihilate anything in its path, it showcases a high level of tenacity and resilience in battle. Trespasser's imposing presence and fierce demeanor make it a formidable adversary, unyielding and merciless in its attacks. Despite its brute force, there is a primal intelligence behind its actions, suggesting a calculated approach to its rampages. This combination of raw power and strategic aggression underscores Trespasser's role as a relentless harbinger of chaos. However, do not mistake Trespasser for a mindless monster; this bio-weapon of the Precursors follows its masters' wishes to exterminate the "vermin" of Earth: humans.
Origins[]
Trespasser was a Category Unknown Kaiju Hound created by the Precursors sometime during or before 2013. Using the base genetic sample of Anteverse Kaiju, the Precursors grew and cloned Trespasser, testing it against other kaiju of its kind. Among these, Trespasser proved to be one of the strongest, with some estimating it to be a Category IV. After the creation of the Breach in August 2013, Trespasser emerged with the mission to annihilate humanity. The Precursors believed that Trespasser alone would be sufficient to wipe out human civilization.
History[]
Pacific Rim[]
On August 10, 2013, the Precursors opened a portal between the Anteverse and Earth, reopening the gateway since their first trial run in the Triassic period. Trespasser was the first kaiju sent by the Precursors to exterminate humanity, aiming for populated areas to wipe humans out. Trespasser's emergence from the Breach caused a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in the Pacific, with its source unknown to scientists and researchers. Trespasser quickly swam to California, targeting San Francisco. Reports of something large moving in the bay preceded Trespasser's dramatic emergence beside the bridge, which it promptly destroyed, easily ripping it apart.
The U.S. military and British Royal Air Force engaged Trespasser, but it simply swatted away the fighter jets, tanks, and missiles like nuisances. It continued into San Francisco, leaving destruction in its wake, before rampaging through Sacramento and eventually reaching Oakland and its bay, causing widespread devastation. While the film leads us to believe the military's relentless onslaught killed the beast, in reality, Trespasser was taken down by three nuclear strikes. Even then, it was only enough to damage it severely and finally bring it down, with most of its remains horrifyingly intact aside from the exposed innards.
After the attack, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Oakland mourned the losses, memorialized the event, and began the recovery process. News outlets extensively covered the attack, with the President at the time making an announcement. Government officials searched the wreckage for survivors in the radiation-filled wasteland, wearing protective suits. Trespasser's carcass continued to rot and pollute its surroundings, even terraforming the area for its masters after its death. Its skull was recovered and put on display in a museum.
The government, public, and many others believed Trespasser's attack to be an isolated event. Many were baffled by the creature's existence, toxicity, and origins.
Powers, Weapons, Skills & Abilities[]
- Physical Capabilities: Due to Trespasser being a highly advanced Kaiju bio-weapon hound of the Precursors, it possesses an array of physical capabilities that surpass those of traditional biological creatures. These capabilities and incredibly thick skin enable it to survive tremendous damage, withstand military attacks, endure radioactivity, and adapt to Earth's atmosphere. Its robust physical attributes and strong skeletal structure allow it to perform the abilities listed below.
- Kaiju Strength: Being an Anteverse Kaiju, Trespasser possesses incredible enhanced strength capable of tearing through the Golden Gate Bridge with ease, swatting and instantly destroying military jets, buildings, and other man-made structures. Trespasser's sheer strength and emergence from the Breach caused a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in the Pacific, so powerful that it was felt in San Francisco as a prelude to the attack. This immense strength also enabled it to swim across the Pacific to California.
- Kaiju Speed: Trespasser is surprisingly fast despite its immense weight. It was capable of swimming to San Francisco, continuing through the city to Sacramento, and then to Oakland. It traveled 35 miles over the course of 6 days.
- Reaction Speed: Trespasser's Kaiju speed allows it to react to military vehicles such as fighter jets and tank shells, swatting them out of its way with relative ease and precision. This immense reaction speed persisted until its death.
- Swimming Speed: Trespasser, like all Anteverse Kaiju, is an aquatic monster. Thus, Trespasser's overall speed is punctuated by its absolutely incredible swimming speed.
- Kaiju Durability: Trespasser's skin is exceptionally durable, bordering on invulnerable to conventional military weaponry. Its immensely thick and resilient armor allows it to withstand virtually all military attacks, with only near-nuclear explosions causing minor damage. The only known means of inflicting fatal harm on the creature are three direct nuclear strikes. Even then, these strikes only affected the specific areas they hit, while the rest of the skin remained largely unscathed. As mentioned, these extraordinary feats of durability are attributed to its armor-like skin.
