Treasure golems are a type of golem that appear in Dungeons & Dragons. These creatures are made up from large amounts of coins, jewels and other valuables, brought to life by magic-users of great wealth as an ironic means of warding off would-be thieves. Treasure golems were initially conceived out of paranoia by dragons who feared that their treasure hoards might be defiled by their own servants. After all, when one's own minions cannot be trusted, what better way to protect one's wealth than have the wealth defend itself?
Abilities[]
- Slam - Golems will attack by flailing their limbs with all their strength.
- Blindsight - Even without real eyes, a treasure golem can see anything around it within 60 feet.
- Tremorsense - Treasure golems can detect any vibrations within 30 feet.
- False Appearance - While not in motion, treasure golems appear to be harmless piles of treasure.
- Swarm - The multitude of coins and trinkets that make up a treasure golem can scatter and move as a swarm to overwhelm intruders.
- Gleamshard - A magical attack that casts clumps of treasure as projectiles towards the enemy.
- Weight of Greed - A charming spell that lowers the defences of attackers and may dominate their minds, turning the charmed attackers against their allies.
- Magic Resistance - Golems of any kind are typically resistant to magical attacks.
Weaknesses[]
- Antimagic - An antimagic field will cause a treasure golem to fall unconscious and collapse into a heap of treasure. This effect lasts for one minute.
