The Toads were creatures which appeared in the Stephen King short story Rainy Season.
Description[]
A dark grey or black in colour, the toads were roughly the size of a football. Their most striking feature, however, was mouths full of needle-sharp teeth, which along with their powerful jaws made them capable of chewing through flesh, bone, and even hardwood in a matter of seconds.
The toads rained down from the sky once every seven years to consume an out-of-town couple as a sacrifice to an unknown entity in exchange for the township of Willow, Maine remaining prosperous. Once sunlight touched the beasts the morning following their arrival, they disintegrated into a dark slurry which was washed away by the actual rain, and were no longer a threat.

When John and Elise Graham moved into Willow for the summer so that John might have peace to write a book on American history, two of the locals, Henry Eden and Laura Stanton, tried to warn them of the danger, and told them that they must leave immediately. Of course, the couple believed the two to be either crazy or having some fun at their expense, and ignored the warning. As a result, when the downpour of carnivorous creatures arrived that night, their house was not secured against the threat, and the two were torn to pieces.
