The Fabilu Family are characters who appear in Clive Barker's 1990 fantasy-horror movie Nightbreed.
Description[]
A seemingly-normal family, the Fabilu "adults" appear to be slightly older than is usual for parents, the "child" has an unearthly pallor to his skin, and they all dress in worn and slightly ragged, yet still serviceable, working-class clothing. One notable feature common to all three is the dark coloration around the eyes; the cause of this is unknown.
History[]
In Midian, appearance is not always an indication of age; there are children who hobble around as wizened elders, infants who have existed for decades without ever ageing a day, and youthful maidens who escaped a witches' death at Salem. The Fabilu family - Jubilé, Ladybread and Kow - are one such example, a group whose bodyclocks are running in reverse. Kow, the child, is actually the father of Jubilé and Ladybread. One year after the family found a home in Midian, Kow's wife - the children's mother - succumbed to infancy and was buried deep in one of the necropolis's countless crypts. There, it is said, her remains continued to de-mature, until finally they divided into two separate and minuscule entities then simply ceased to exist.
Whilst their condition seems at first consideration to be physically impossible, one must remember that stranger things happen every other day amongst the Tribes of the Moon.
What happened to the Fabilu family after the Sons of the Free attacked and destroyed Midian is unknown.
