The System Purge was an event which took place in the 2012 fantasy-horror movie The Cabin in the Woods.
History[]
During the events of the last Ritual enacted by the North American branch of the Organization, two of the intended sacrifices, Dana Polk and Marty Mikalski, managed to escape the slaughtering grounds of the cabin and gained entry to the Facility itself.
Evading capture by the Security Force, they made their way to the central holding area for the many different monsters which could take part in the ritual. There, they discovered a master switch which would release all of the monsters if activated and, seeing no other way to distract the Facility personnel for long enough to make a clean getaway, used it.
Subsequently, every single monster held by the Facility was set loose inside the compound, and the resultant carnage killed every last one of the staff before the Ancient Ones arose due to the failure of the Ritual.
