Sydney Bugg is a character who appears as a recurrent villain in the Cartoon Network animated series Ben 10. He forms one half of the Bugg Brothers along with his sibling Maurice.

Description

A hulking brute of a creature, Sydney has the heavily-muscled body of a professional wrestler, combined with the head of a cockroach, complete with paired mandibles and antennae. His highly-developed physique grants him superhuman strength, making him very much the brawn to his brother's brains. He also possesses the ability to spit a green slime at enemies, although this appears to be more of a delaying tactic than a real attack.

Sydney's motivations are unknown as his speech is unintelligible to anyone other than Maurice, but he seems happy to follow his brother's instructions, even when Maurice berates him for his mistakes.

How Sydney came to be the way he is remains a mystery, although the fact that he was first encountered by Team Tennyson in an area contaminated by nuclear waste hints that he may have been a result of genetic mutation. The radioactive symbol on the chest of his jumpsuit lends credence to this idea.

Trivia

• The Bugg Brothers are clearly a nod to the 1958 horror movie The Fly, in which the main character is mutated into two creatures, one of which has the head and arm of a fly.
• Sydney is an accomplished musician.
