The Squonk (Latin: Lacrimacorpus dissolvens) is a type of fearsome critter, a group of creatures likely created by the early western pioneers and lumberjacks of North America.
Description[]
Found in the Hemlock forests of northern Pennsylvania, the Squonk is an ugly creature whose wrinkled, warty skin hangs from its body in flaps. Deeply unhappy with the way they look, Squonks are shy creatures who will hide away from other animals, including humans, as they do not wish anybody to see their horrible forms. To this effect, they have developed an unusual ability: when cornered, a Squonk is capable of dissolving its body into a fluid puddle of bubbling tears.

A gentleman by the name of J.T. Wentling claimed to have caught a Squonk by befriending the creature then coaxing it into a hemp sack. When he got the sack home and opened it however, all that remained was a pool of liquid, the beast having died of embarrassment.
