The Soldat (plural, Soldaten) is a type of B.O.W. that appears in Resident Evil Village. Created by Karl Heisenberg, these creatures are made from human cadavers and have been augmented with machinery, turning them into cyborgs. Heisenberg intended to manufacture an army of Soldaten in order to rebel against Mother Miranda, but his plans were ruined by Ethan Winters.
The name Soldat is derived from the German word for "Soldier".
Biology[]
A Soldat can be produced from either a single human corpse, or pieces from different bodies put together in a Frankenstein-esque manner. The heart of the creature is replaced with a Cadou parasite contained within a mechanical vessel that serves a "reactor", generating energy to motivate the creature. The muscles are stimulated with electricity, but the creatures are brain-dead and act solely on destructive instinct. With the addition of a cybernetic headpiece to stabilize neural activity, the Soldat can be programmed for basic tasks such as patrolling a specific area or seeking out and destroying targets. The rest of the body is modified with machinery to improve their combat capabilities.
Soldaten each have drills mounted to their arms which they will use to tear apart their victims. While they are quite hardy creatures that do not feel pain, they do possess a common weakness: a thermal port on the chest (or back, in the case of the Soldat Zwei) that vents excess heat generated by the Cadou reactor. If this device is destroyed, the Cadou will die and the Soldat will implode. Unlike other Mold/Cadou mutations, Soldaten do not crystallize upon death.
Variants[]
- Soldat Eins - The most basic and common variant of Soldat. Made from a single human corpse, it wears grey trousers and boots, has one arm fitted with a drill and one unmodified arm. It will march towards a target and attempt to skewer the victim with its drill. It can be stunned by shooting its legs or killed by targeting the Cadou reactor vent on its chest. "Eins" means "one" in German.
- Soldat Zwei - The Zwei variant ("Zwei" meaning "two" in German) is an upgraded version with both arms sporting a drill. Its thermal vent is located on its back and it has what appears to be a respirator attached to its face (even though it most likely doesn't need to breathe). It appears to be made of multiple human parts stitched together.
- Soldat Jet - A rare Soldat variant equipped with a jet pack, allowing it to jump to higher vantage points, hover in place for brief periods and make devastating charge attacks. Its head is covered in armour and is also equipped with a laser scope that helps it line up its dashing attack.
- Soldat Panzer - A Soldat variant that is covered head-to-toe in metallic armour, making it extremely tough but also quite slow. It has three drill bits attached to each arm. Explosives and Magnum rounds will be required when combating these creatures as their cores are covered up by all their additional armour. Fortunately, there are very few of these monsters to contend with.
