Shadow Pirates are a class of Space Pirates that appear in Metroid Prime. Specializing in stealth, they are equipped with light armour and cloaking devices that can render them invisible to the naked eye. They do not use ranged weaponry, relying solely on melee combat tactics and their scythe-gauntlets. They will engage foes that enter their territory by ambushing them, striking from walls, ceilings and elevated platforms.
While Shadow Pirates cannot be seen in the standard visual spectrum, Samus Aran was able to spot them using her Varia Suit's thermal and x-ray visor enhancements. Being lightly armoured, Shadow Pirates are vulnerable to most weaponry.
