Selene was one of the Titans of Greek mythology, a race of primordial giants who wielded godlike power.
Description[]
A beautiful young woman with long, lustrous black hair, Selene was the Titan personification of the moon. Each night, she would drive a glowing chariot pulled by her two pure white (possibly winged) horses across the heavens, shining lunar light across the land.
History[]
Born to the first generation Titans Hyperion and Theia, Selene had two siblings, her brother Helios, the personification of the sun, and sister Eos, who embodied the dawn. Unlike her parents, Selene apparently coexisted peacefully with the Olympian gods; indeed, of the many children she is reputed to have given birth to, at least one (the lunar goddess Pandia) was by Zeus, the King of the Gods.
