William Baker, aka Flint Marko and Sandman, is a fictional Marvel Comics supervillain who typically serves as a recurrent enemy of Spider-Man. He is a former criminal who has the ability to turn himself into sand as well as also manipulate it. He was part of a group of supervillains known as the Sinister Six in order to take down Spider-Man.
Later in his career, Sandman reformed himself and gave up his criminal activities, even joining the Avengers. He continued to go back and forth between supervillain and superhero, making him a very interesting and untrustworthy character.
Powers and abilities[]
Flint Marko got exposed to a radioactive explosion which altered his DNA by matching the chemical composition of small rocks and minerals. Thanks to it, he can control every particle of his body, and can turn his limbs into weapons, pick locks with his finger, shapeshift into different beings, including a giant sand monster if he gathers too much sand, and even be intangible as he is unnable to receive wounds from physical attacks.
He is nearly indestructible, which makes him an opponent very hard to beat with sheer strenght. Despite this, he is vulnerable to water since, much like bodies of sand itself, Sandman could easily absorb water into his body causing him to lose control of his physique at a certain amount.
