Rumpel

Rumpelstiltskin is the main antagonist in Shrek Forever After. He is a conman who is able to trick people into signing his magical contracts.

History[]

Shrek the Third[]

He appears as a minor antagonist. He is seen in the Poison Apple Tavern along with the other villains. Prince Charming mistakes his name as "Frumpypigskin." It was revealed that he was promised a first-born child, but never got one. He assists Charming in taking over Far, Far Away, and later redeems himself along with the other villains. He differs in appearance from Rumpelstiltskin in "Shrek Forever After," so it is unknown if they are related or have any connection.

Shrek Forever After[]

He appears as the main antagonist. A flashback shows him meeting with King Harold and Queen Lillian, who came to Rumpel in the hope of ending Fiona's curse. Rumpel gives them a contract, and the King and Queen sign it over to him in exchange for their kingdom. The King is hesitant to sign over their kingdom, but knows that he must do it for Fiona. The King is about to sign the contract before a servant bursts in and tells them that Fiona has been saved. The King then tears up the contract. Rumpel wonders who saved Fiona. He is then seen in a library, tearing out the pages of the book while reading about how Fiona was saved. Pinocchio happens to work in the library, and tells Rumpel that he has to pay for the book that he tore the pages out of. Rumpel offers to make a deal with him, and calls him a "little boy". Pinocchio tells him that he is not a real boy, so Rumpel asks him if he wants to be, which results in Pinocchio kicking him out of the library. Rumpel is outraged at the fact that Fiona was saved by Shrek, and he wishes that Shrek had never been born.

He is later seen getting food out of the garbage at the back of the building where the Ogre Triplets's birthday party takes place. He sees Shrek and Fiona arguing and sees this as an opportunity to trick Shrek into signing one of his magical contracts. He fakes a carriage accident and groans for help, knowing that Shrek is nearby. Shrek saves him, and Rumpel then insists on giving Shrek a ride to "thank" him. Shrek tells him that he wants to feel like a real ogre again, even for one day. Rumpel then offers him a contract. He convinces Shrek to sign his magical contract, which states that he gives one of his days away in exchange for a day to become a real ogre again. Shrek is unaware that Rumpel is going to take the day that he was born.

After Shrek signs the Ogre for a day contract, the current timeline is replaced by an alternate timeline where Rumpel is the King of Far, Far Away. Shrek does not exist in this universe, as Rumpel took the day he was born. Rumpel holds a big party with many witches and has the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs as his servants, along with the witches. The witches bring Shrek into Rumpel's palace. Rumpel gives him the hint that he took the day he was born, and tells him that once this day comes to an end, so will he.

His main rivals are the Ogre resistance, who try to defeat Rumpel so they can have freedom. He hires the Pied Piper, a bounty hunter, to lure all the ogres back to the castle. Rumpel has to prevent Shrek and Fiona from kissing, as this would undo the contract. To do this, he told the villagers that whoever turns Fiona in gets the deal of a lifetime. Shrek ends up turning himself in, but Rumpel won't give him whatever he wants. Although he agrees to free the "all-ogres", with the exception of Fiona, as she isn't an "all-ogre" (by night one way, by day another).

Rumpel chains Shrek and Fiona underground with a fire-breathing dragon, to let the public see them get consumed. Shrek thanks Fiona for everything he did, and then Shrek and Fiona manage to defeat the dragon with the help of Puss in Boots. The ogres break out of the large ball at the top of Rumpel's caste and chase after Rumple. They catch him and declare victory. Shrek and Fiona kiss just on-time, the contract is undone, and the original timeline is restored. Rumpel is seen to be imprisoned in a cage in Shrek's swamp, and the Pied Piper kills Rumpel's pet goose, Fifi, by playing a specific tune.

Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular[]

He is still imprisoned in the same cage, and demands that he be released, but Donkey refuses to release him.
