Roa

Roa is a human-based chimera from Fullmetal Alchemist. A former soldier in the Amestrian State Military, he was discharged from service after being severely wounded during the Ishval Civil War. However, the State wasn't yet done with him and he was subjected to alchemical experimentation where he was spliced with ox genes.

Appearance[]

Roa is a rather large man with Caucasian skin and spiky white hair. Though no longer a member of the Amestrian Military, he still wears the uniform, though it is not as immaculately kept as it once was and he typically keeps many of the buttons undone.

In combat, Roa taps into the ox genes within him, causing his muscles to expand and a pair of bovine horns to emerge from his head.

History[]

Roa had been critically injured in battle during the Ishval Civil War. After being taken to an alchemic lab, his body was healed and alchemically combined with an ox, though he still appeared human on the outside. Not long after the experiment, he escaped from military custody and fled to South City where they met with the rogue homunculus Greed, joining forces with him and the other chimerae in his gang.

After the chimerae abducted Alphonse Elric, they drew the attention of both Edward Elric and the Amestrian military. As soldiers stormed the Devil's Nest via the sewers, Roa opted to stay and fight. However, he and Dolcetto found themselves fighting against King Bradley, who made short work of them thanks to his Ultimate Eye.

In the 2003 series episode "Theory of Avarice", Dolcetto and Roa accompany Greed and the captive Alphonse Elric to an isolated barn in the woods after fleeing from the Devil's Nest. However, they are then confronted by the homunculi Lust and Gluttony. Greed and Al escape while Roa and Dolcetto keep the homunculi at bay. They are both last seen charging at their opponents and are killed off-screen. Gluttony is shown to have blood around his mouth after the fight, implying that he ate the two chimerae.

Abilities and Skills[]

  • Superhuman Strength - Infused with ox genes, Roa possesses extraordinary physical strength.
  • Bull-man Form - In combat, Roa taps into the ox genes within him, causing his muscles to expand and a pair of bovine horns to emerge from his head. He is even stronger and more resilient in this state.
  • Hand to Hand Combat - With his exemplary strength, Roa is a powerful combatant. In battle, he fights using a sledgehammer or his bare fists.
