Queenspawn
Queenspawn is an extradimensional singular alien in X-Com: Apocalypse.
Overview[]
There is only one queenspawn, and it exists inside the organic city of Alien Dimension. There it nests in a specific area called the spawning chamber, which is designed just for queenspawn's delicate atmospheric requirements.
Queenspawn is a huge, immobile alien creature that somewhat resembles a squid. It's bulging, vein-crossed mantle is connected directly to spawning chamber's nutrition supply. Queenspawn can survive without this connection, but it's ability to lay eggs is hampered.
Tentacles seem to have tiny openings from which Queenspawn is able to spray astonishing amounts of lethal acids. This may be possible because of the constant supply of various substances from the alien building.
Role in invasion[]
Queenspawn has a passive, but important role in alien invasion. It lays endless quantities of multiworm eggs from which multiworms emerge. It is likely that queenspawn imprints the eggs with different types of genome that dictates which kind of alien eventually hatches from hyperworm chrysalis. Given time, queenspawn can even develop new genomes which could lead to entirely new types of alien creatures.
