The Purifying Flame is a creature which appears in Wyrd Games‘ Malifaux universe.
Description[]
An entity which appears as a human skeleton wreathed in fire, the Purifying Flame is only ever found by the side of its companion, Guild Master Sonnia Criid, whose wishes it carries out whatever they may be.
Some have speculated that the Purifying Flame is not a creature in its own right at all, but simply a manifestation of Sonnia’s burning hatred for the Arcanists which she spends so long bringing to Guild justice. These inidividuals cite the facts that the Purifying Flame is not only adept with the powers of fire that it’s Master is, but that it may cast her spells (albeit in a limited fashion) in the same way as Sonnia can, and has a degree of immunity to magic itself, much as she does, as proof of the theory.
Whatever the truth, the Purifying Flame is a sight that most Arcanists hold in the utmost dread, knowing that where it goes, Sonnia Criid will not be far behind.
