The Prowler is an enemy from the video game DOOM Eternal. This demon is believed to be related to the Imp as it boasts a similar appearance and behaviour. While Imps attack in groups, however, the Prowler is a solitary hunter that relies on stealth to stalk its prey.
Biology[]
The Prowler is a humanoid creature with a lithe frame covered in purplish skin. Its limbs and torso are covered in a light carapace that make it more resilient than its Imp cousins and it possesses wickedly sharp claws used for both climbing over terrain and ripping prey to pieces. It also sports short horns on its shoulders and head as well as three tiny eyes in the middle of its face.
Abilities[]
Like Imps, Prowlers are quick-footed demons that scale up walls and over obstacles with their claws, able to pursue their prey almost anywhere on the battlefield. They also channel Argent energy to cast fireballs from a distance.
What makes the Prowler stand apart from the Imp is its stealth capabilities. It is able to teleport short distances in order to ambush its prey and it also possesses a form of infravision that allows it to detect enemies hiding behind cover or that are otherwise invisible. It is tougher than its nimble form suggests and can endure greater punishment than a standard Imp.
Combat[]
The most effective weapons to use against the Prowler are the Super Shotgun, Ballista and Rocket Launcher. The Super Shotgun can not only kill or stun a Prowler in one shot, but using its Meathook attachment to grab a Prowler will prevent the creature from teleporting.
The Ballista can stun a Prowler in one shot, leaving it vulnerable to a Glory Kill.
The Rocket Launcher's Lock-On Burst enhancement fires homing projectiles that can maintain a target lock on a Prowler even after it has teleported.
Finally, the Doom Slayer can also use Ice Bombs to freeze the wiley Prowler in place and kill it while it's immobile.
