Ponyta is a Fire-type Pokémon, numbered #077 in the National Pokédex. Known as the Fire Horse Pokémon, it is an equine creature with a cream-white coat and dark eyes, though its most outstanding features are its mane and tail which are made of flames.

Ponyta are born without a mane or tail, though these features will appear about an hour after birth. Though newborn Ponyta are weak at first, they gain strength as they spend their early years of life chasing after their parents. Ponyta's hooves are said to be harder than diamonds and its legs are so strong that it is capable of leaping over tall buildings. While its mane and tail are made of flame, Ponyta can control how hot its flames are. If it trusts a person enough, they may touch it without being burned and may even be allowed to ride upon its back. This Pokémon can be found on plains and grasslands.
Galarian Variant[]
In Galar, Ponyta has evolved into a Psychic-type and has been classed as the Unique Horn Pokémon. Its body is shorter than the standard Ponyta and not as strong physically, an evolutionary trade-off for its psychic powers. Its colourful mane can absorb nascent life energy in the air around it, energy which can be channeled through the black horn on its head to heal injured creatures. It is even capable of looking into the hearts of humans and can sense whether a person is good or evil, retreating from those with sinister hearts.
Abilities[]
- Stomp - Ponyta tramples its opponent with its hooves.
- Flame Charge - Ponyta becomes wreathed in flames and charges at its foe.
- Take Down - A fierce charging attack that deals heavy damage to the opponent but also deals minor recoil damage to the user.
- Fire Spin - Ponyta runs rings around its foe, leaving them surrounded by flames that deal minor damage each move.
- Heal Pulse - The Galarian Ponyta can release the life energy stored in its mane to heal the minor wounds of an ally.
- Psybeam - The Galarian Ponyta casts a beam of psychic energy from its horn to inflict moderate damage.
Evolution[]
Ponyta evolves into Rapidash at Level 40.
