Poliwhirl is a Water-type Pokémon and the second member of the Tadpole Pokémon family. When Poliwag evolves, it loses its tail and its distinct pink lips while it gains a pair of arms.

While Poliwhirl is capable of moving on land, it prefers to stay in freshwater ponds and lakes. When out of water, it sweats to keep its skin moist. It is always covered in an oily fluid that allows it to slip away from enemies. All of its skin feels this away except where its swirl is, which is very smooth. The swirl on its belly undulates slowly, and staring at it induces drowsiness.
Abilities[]
- Damp - This ability lets Poliwhirl stop other Pokémon from using Self-Destruct.
- Hypnosis - The undulation of Poliwhirl's belly spiral causes those who stare at it to fall asleep.
- Body Slam - Poliwhirl jumps up and brings its full weight down on its opponent.
- Bubblebeam - A rapid stream of hard bubbles that inflicts moderate damage.
- Mud Shot - Poliwhirl throws a glob of mud hard into its opponent's face.
Evolution[]
Poliwhirl can evolve into one of two different forms. It can evolve into Poliwrath if exposed to a Water Stone or into Politoed if traded to another Trainer whilst holding a King's Rock.
