Poliwag is a Water-type Pokémon and is marked as Number 060 in the National Pokédex. It is among the most common varieties of Pokémon in the world and can be found in the lakes and rivers of most regions.
Pokédex Data[]
Poliwag resembles a large tadpole. It typically stands at 2 feet tall, has no arms, short stubby legs and a long finned tail. While it cannot walk well on land, it can hop around or even use its body's natural moisture to slide across the ground. It is more suited to swimming, however.
Poliwag's most notable feature is the black and white swirl pattern on its belly, which is common among its evolved forms as well (except for Politoed). This spiral pattern is in fact an outline of its internal organs seen through its partially transparent skin.
Abilities[]
- Damp - This ability prevents any battling Pokémon from using Self-Destruct or Explosion.
- Water Gun - Poliwag spews a stream of water that inflicts average damage.
- Hypnosis - While not a Psychic-type Pokémon, Poliwag can use the spiral on its belly to lull foes to sleep.
- Double Slap - Poliwag repeatedly slaps an opponent with its tail.
- Rain Dance - A technique that summons rainfall, weakening fire-based attacks.
Evolution[]
Poliwag evolves into Poliwhirl at Level 25.
