A Ovinnik is a troublesome spirit of the threshing house in Slavic folklore and was often depicted as a small humanoid creature not too different from the more beneficial Bannik,
A Ovinnik would often threaten to burn the building down and cause other mischief unless they were appeased and the favored means of doing so was offering them roosters and bliny (a traditional type of pancake).
While malevolent in nature the Ovinnik could also manipulate luck to some extent, especially during the New Year, where they would determine the luck of a person via their touch; a warm touch granted them a year of great luck, in contrast if their touch was cold then bad luck would hound the person for the next year.
