Otamamon is a Child-level Digimon that resembles a large tadpole. It has an indigo-coloured, ovoid body ending in a short tail with a fin, two arms ending in three clawed digits and two underdeveloped legs. It has circular eyes and a wide mouth filled with short fangs.
Otamamon resides in lakes and rivers upstream of the Net Ocean. When it swims, it uses its legs as rudders. It will occasionally climb up onto rocks with its developed forelimbs and do vocal training.
Otamamon shows clear signs of its upcoming digivolution and is prone to mutations, resulting in a large number of potential forms it could take. These qualities make it highly prized among Digimon Trainers and Tamers.

- Lullaby Bubble - Otamamon spits out several bubbles that have a tranquilizing effect on opponents, putting them to sleep.
- Kid Claw - Otamamon scratches at an opponent with its claws.
- Wrapping Bubble - Otamamon envelops itself in a protective bubble while dropping a water bomb from the sky upon its enemy.
- Water Jet - Otamamon spews a stream of water from its mouth.
- Tackle - Otamamon slams into its opponent with a full-body attack.

There are several variants of Otamamon - alternate forms brought about by different methods of digivolution - which are described below.
Red Otamamon[]
The red variant of Otamamon can digivolve from any second-level Red Digimon and is born with fire attributes. As such, it dwells in hot areas such as hot springs. It never misses out on its vocal training and loves to sing.

X-Antibody[]
When imbued with the X-Antibody, Otamamon's body balloons to comical proportions. Its arms become stubby and its hind legs atrophy away while its tail grows longer. It sports a crown atop its body and gold cuffs on its forearms.
In this state, Otamamon is more resilient against attacks, but its own attack power is weak and it has fewer moves. It retains its Lullaby Bubble attack and also resorts to striking enemies with its Smiley Headbutt. Its smile never fades while it is attacking.
