The U.S. facility’s sacrificial chamber.

The Organization were a group of humans who appeared in the 2012 fantasy-horror movie The Cabin in the Woods.

Overview[]

Originally a blood-sacrifice cult, the Organization had developed in modern times into a multinational association of groups with a single purpose in mind: to ensure that The Ritual, which kept the Ancient Ones from rising and reconquering the Earth, was properly enacted each year.

The Organization kept many facilities across the globe, each one of which enacted a different version of The Ritual each year; as long as one of them succeeded, then the world would be spared for another year. Despite their evolution from a barbaric past, the Organization in the modern day was a high-tech operation, using technology as well as magic to ensure that they fulfilled their function.

As a group, the Organization was known to at least have ties with modern governments, although whether they were actually a governmental agency at the time of the System Purge is unknown.

  • The Facility, the Organization’s subterranean base in North America, and the setting for much of the film. Whilst possibly not true for all of the installations, the Facility was run almost in the manner of a reality television show, with a fairly relaxed atmosphere and a very businesslike attitude towards The Ritual. They even ran a pool on which monster would be chosen by the sacrifices, which can be seen on a whiteboard in their central control room.
