Old One Eye is a unique Tyranid bioconstruct of the Carnifex genus which appears in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Description[]
Like most types of Tyranid organism, Old One Eye has a hardened upper carapace and six limbs. Whilst the rear pair are used to carry the beast, the front pair are equipped with a pair of long scything bone-blades, whilst the centre two comprise enormously powerful claws somewhat similar to those found on a terrestrial crab. It's carapace is almost jet black, it has a deep red skin, and is gifted with a metabolism which grants it a staggering degree of regeneration. Old One Eye also, as his name might suggest, possesses only a single eye, his other having been burned out along with half of its face by a close-range shot from a plasma pistol.
History[]
First encountered as part of the vanguard of Hive Fleet Behemoth's attack on the Imperial world of Calth, Old One Eye's bloody rampage was only halted when a soldier, whose name has been lost to the winds of time, fired his plasma weapon directly into the beasts eye socket, apparently killing it. The Hive Fleet which spawned it was later beaten back by the heroic efforts of the Ultramarines Space Marine chapter and their allies.
Many years later, its frozen body was discovered by a group of smugglers who, intent on claiming the bounty offered for Tyranid corpses, inadvertently thawed the creature out. Awakening from its cryogenic slumber, Old One Eye made short work of the group before somehow calling on other, smaller Tyranid creatures who had been left behind by the retreating Hive Fleet.
Recognising a dominant organism, the Tyranids followed the lead of Old One Eye, whose instinctive behaviour when out of contact with the Overmind was to simply slaughter anything it came across. Thus began a series of massacres across Calth, which the local population was at a total loss to counter. Luckily for them, their call for aid was answered by a group of Space Marine scouts whose Sergeant was able to place a single shot through the beast's vulnerable eye socket, causing it to flee in agony. However, its body was never recovered.
Since that time, stories of a lone Carnifex matching Old One Eye's description have been received on several occasions, although every time it is reported to have been killed it resurfaces some years later.
