Nicodem is a Resurrectionist Master who appears in Wyrd Games’ Malifaux universe.
Description[]
A tall, spindly man in his later years, Nicodem is one of Malifaux’s premier undertakers. As such, he is always impeccably dressed and speaks with the manners of a well-bred gentleman. He walks with a cane to compensate for the loss of one of his legs, which has since been replaced with a bionic substitute, although how he came to lose the limb is something that Nicodem does not speak of.
Nicodem employs a venue of vultures, who seek out abandoned corpses for him to claim, and through which he can cast his own black spells, and often hires the services of Mortimer, whose disgusting presence he tolerates due to the man’s uncanny ability to source fresh materiel.
History[]
Despite his genteel appearance and bearing, Nicodem is Malifaux’s worst graverobber. Initially simply using this as a means to gain greater personal wealth, since coming to Malifaux he has begun to hear the utterances of the spirits which dwell beneath the numerous and well-stocked cemeteries of that strange land. Slowly learning the secrets of necromancy from these whispering voices,
Nicodem has practiced this art to the point where he has become a Master amongst the death-magicians known as Resurrectionists, and the dark power which he wields has caused him to become a creature of pure evil.
Since then, Nicodem has become dissatisfied with his lot in life, believing that his power gives him the right to rule others in any way he pleases. In the present day, he has established a fortified stronghold in the Quarantined Zone, from where he plots to raise a huge army from the grave with which to overthrow the ruling City Guild and claim all of Malifaux as his own, a dark city of the dead over which he has absolute mastery.
