Nakime is a demon introduced initially as a silent observer who plays the biwa to summon other demons to Muzan Kibutsuji’s Infinity Castle. Although she seems passive at first, she later becomes a central figure in Muzan’s operations, ascending to the rank of Upper Rank Four after Hantengu’s death. Her quiet, reserved demeanor masks her incredibly dangerous and useful abilities.
Appearance[]
Nakime has a haunting, ghostlike presence. She is a pale-skinned woman with long, jet-black hair tied into a high ponytail and dressed in a dark kimono with a tall collar. She is always seen seated in front of her biwa, a traditional Japanese lute, which she plays to activate her powers.
As she becomes stronger, her appearance subtly shifts. In her final form as Upper Rank Four, her face gains additional eyes sprouting on her forehead and temples, each of which allows her to monitor vast areas and manipulate space with even greater precision.
Personality[]
Nakime is reserved, calm, and completely loyal to Muzan Kibutsuji. She rarely speaks and obeys orders without question, serving more like a silent guardian or tool than an expressive individual. Unlike other demons, she shows no emotional extremes — neither sadistic joy nor rage. Her loyalty and usefulness, combined with her lack of ego or ambition, make her one of Muzan’s most trusted subordinates.
Despite her silence, she proves cunning and strategic when cornered, especially when trying to evade the Demon Slayers infiltrating the Infinity Castle.
Story[]
Before Becoming an Upper Rank[]
Nakime initially serves as the gatekeeper of the Infinity Castle, using her biwa to control its architecture. She is introduced during the Lower Kizuki meeting where Muzan slaughters most of the Lower Ranks, playing her instrument in the background. At that time, she is not yet ranked among the Upper Moons.
However, after Hantengu is killed during the Swordsmith Village Arc, Muzan promotes Nakime to Upper Rank Four, acknowledging the significance of her unique abilities.
Infinity Castle Arc[]
Nakime plays a crucial role during the Final Battle, as she uses her Blood Demon Art to manipulate the entire Infinity Castle — a sprawling, interdimensional fortress under her complete control. She separates the Demon Slayers, attempting to disorient and isolate them to protect Muzan.
However, her downfall begins when Yushiro, the demon-turned-ally of the Demon Slayers, hacks into her vision-based telekinetic network by taking control of one of her demon eyes. Through this, Yushiro begins to hijack her powers, turning the structure of the Infinity Castle against her will.
Death[]
Once Muzan senses that Nakime’s abilities are compromised, he kills her instantly by crushing her head remotely — showcasing the same brutal control he held over all demons. Despite her loyalty and importance, Muzan eliminates her without hesitation to prevent the Demon Slayers from gaining the upper hand.
Powers and abilities[]
Blood Demon Art – Dimensional Fortress Manipulation (Infinity Castle)[]
Nakime’s Blood Demon Art grants her the ability to control and manipulate the Infinity Castle by playing her biwa. The castle exists in a dimensional space separate from the real world and is immense and ever-shifting.
- Instant Room Manipulation: She can open doors, move entire sections of the castle, or trap individuals in endless mazes by plucking strings.
- Spatial Domination: She can isolate or separate enemies, keeping them from assisting each other.
- Portals and Summoning: She can summon demons or teleport Muzan’s forces across dimensions.
- All-Seeing Eyes: After becoming an Upper Rank, Nakime grows numerous extra eyes that allow her to track and spy on people even across cities and landscapes, akin to a surveillance system.
Enhanced Durability and Demonic Traits[]
As an Upper Rank demon, she possesses standard high-tier demon abilities:
- Immense durability and regeneration
- Resistance to decapitation by standard means
- Ability to conceal her presence and travel instantly through her own space
