The word most commonly used to describe Mortimer is “lowlife,” athough even this may be a somewhat generous descriptive. A fat, crudely-spoken degenerate, with no personal hygiene, may be more appropriate. Mortimer is frequently found in the employ of Resurrectionist Master Nicodem, who values him not for his physical or social attributes, but for his uncanny ability to locate fresh meat for Nicodem to experiment upon.
Having spent a good deal of time amongst Malifaux’s less-savoury elements, Mortimer has picked up the skill of graverobbing, and along with it, has mastered the use of many low-level Resurrectionist spells. However, when he uses these spells, he tends to summon not freshly-buried bodies, but the rotten carcasses of mangy, half-feral mutts, a fact which has led to some of those who know of his abilities to speculate that the old adage “like attracts like” holds true whatever the circumstances.
