Mongo is a character who appears in Dreamworks' 2004 animated comedy-fantasy movie Shrek 2.
Description[]
Essentially nothing more than an enormous Gingerbread man, Mongo stands many dozens of feet tall and possesses enormous strength. However, his body is vulnerable to the effect of hot liquids, as he is really only composed of dough and icing sugar. Mongo has at least some degree of intelligence, as he was capable of taking orders and singing along to a popular musical number.
History[]
When Shrek and his friends needed to break into Far Far Away castle, Gingy came up with the idea of speaking to the Muffin Man for help. The Muffin Man baked the enormous Mongo in no time at all, and soon the group were marching on the castle, mounted on the shoulders of their new friend.
Upon reaching the walls, the guards attempted to stop Mongo by launching flaming shot at the creature, but this did little other than annoy him, and in return Mongo kicked the shot back at them, destroying the guards' catapult. Mongo then dragged down the castle bridge, but the guards began to pour hot milk from enormous cauldrons upon him. This caused Mongo's arms to slowly melt off and he keeled over, sinking into the moat, but not before Shrek's group had made their way inside.
At the end of the film, Mongo was revealed to be still alive at the bottom of the moat, singing happily along with the rest of the cast.
