The Midgard Serpent was a creature which appeared in the 2015 medieval-fantasy movie Viking Quest.
Description[]
The Serpent was, as its name might suggest, a monster resembling a gigantic snake or eel. Measuring over a hundred feet in length and broader than a man is tall, it was depicted as being a primarily a creature of the ocean which was capable of surviving on land, at least for short periods of time. With a finned head featuring a gaping maw lined with razor sharp teeth which was large enough to swallow a human whole, the beast also had the ability to breathe a gout of flames, as seen when it roasted King Wolven alive as he stood in defence of the princess.
History[]
Where the Midgard Serpent came from is never revealed in the film, although it was said to periodically require the sacrifice of a princess of royal blood in order to prevent it from destroying the world. After an evil king kidnapped Princess Tasya on her wedding day to offer her to the Serpent, a group of Vikings including her husband-to-be attempted a rescue. They were ultimately successful and one of the group, a man known as Erick the Blessed, killed the Serpent by piercing its hide with a long metal spear during a freak thunderstorm. Lightning struck the spear and caused the beast to explode, saving the world and future princesses from its depredations.
