Megaguirus was a kaiju which appeared in Toho Studios’ Godzilla franchise.
Description[]
Resembling a monstrous cross between a reptile and dragonfly, Megaguirus was Queen of the prehistoric Meganulons. She had a pebbled skin covered in vicious spikes, large red eyes, a tooth-filled maw, great membranous wings, a stinger-tipped tail, and eight razor-sharp insectoid limbs. She was stated to weigh around 12,000 metric tons, have a length of 50 metres, and a wingspan of 80 metres. Possessing a high degree of intelligence for a kaiju, Megaguirus was a creature who delighted in the pain of her enemies.
History[]
When a device intended to be deployed against Godzilla accidentally cast a Meganulon queen back into Earth’s Cretaceous period, the queen layed an egg which would lie dormant for many long years. Rediscovered in the present day, the egg hatched into a swarm of Meganulon who attacked Godzilla and, after absorbing some of his energy, one mutated into Queen Megaguirus.
When Godzilla pursued the Meganulon back to Tokyo, Megaguirus quickly launched an assault on the monster. At first gaining the upper hand, Godzilla soon rallied and after tearing off his opponent’s stinger, killed her with his signature atomic breath.
Strengths and Weaknesses[]
Strengths[]
- Flight: Megaguirus could achieve high-speed flight courtesy of her great wingspan, and was also very agile whilst airborne, being capable of dodging energy weapons whilst airborne and outmanoeuvring her opponents with ease.
- Stinger Tail: When Megaguirus used her stinger on an opponent, she could siphon off a portion of their energy which she could then use to power a fireball of her own. She emitted this attack through her wings.
Weaknesses[]
- Fragile Form: While fast and powerful, Megaguirus' spindly body meant that she was also very frail and easy to damage if an opponent was able to actually make a blow land.
