The Mecha Zombie is a type of enemy that appears in DOOM Eternal. As its name suggests, this particular zombie variant has been cybernetically augmented, with various mechanical components clearly visible on its body.
Appearance[]
The Mecha Zombie appears as a mechanical skeletal frame wrapped in decaying flesh, with partially molten skin and clearly visible intestines in its abdomen. It has glowing red optic lenses in its eye sockets and metallic components making up its neck. Its left arm ends in a metallic hand adorned with sharp, curved talons while its right arm sports an energy cannon.
Behaviour[]
Mecha Zombies behave in a similar manner to regular zombies, the main difference being that these foes are capable of ranged attacks. As they shamble towards their victims, they will raise their gun arms and fire a series of plasma shots. At mid-range, the cannon switches to a flamethrower mode and spews a stream of fire. At close range, the Mecha Zombie will simply bludgeon victims with its limbs.
Combat[]
Mecha Zombies are somewhat tougher than normal zombies, but still relatively easy to defeat. They can be killed with any weapon, though it is recommended that they be slain with special weapons such as the Flame Belch or Chainsaw as such attacks grant the Doom Slayer the chance to replenish ammo and armour. When performing Glory Kills, the Doom Slayer will slam down on a Mecha Zombie's head, hammering it into the torso, or slice the creature apart.
