Mannequin Soldiers are alchemically-engineered creatures that appear in the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and 2009 anime series. Developed by the Amestrian State Military under the guidance of Father, these primitive Homunculi were to serve as Amestris' primary fighting force in the coming "new age" (which was never going to happen as Father had been misleading the military high command for his own ends). Powered by Philosopher's Stones, the Mannequins were supposed to be immortal and invincible.
Overview[]
The Mannequin Soldiers were to serve as Amestris' "immortal legion" as the country moved towards its long-term goal of world domination. Each Mannequin was injected with a liquefied Philosopher's Stone amounting to a single human soul which would act as the creature's power source. However, this did not grant the Mannequin the soul's mind or memories and they remained base creatures driven by instinct, though they would make vocalizations that resembled words, if not complete sentences, indicating that the souls within them were still partially conscious and were screaming out in pain and terror.
When activated, the Mannequin Soldiers behaved in a similar manner to cinematic zombies; they would move in large groups and attack any living thing (apart from each other) on sight, attempting to eat their victims alive. The Soldiers were extremely durable, ignoring any injuries they sustained as they continued to attack. While they could not regenerate the way Father or his "children" could, it made no difference what part of their bodies were damaged as they would just keep coming so long as their limbs remained intact. Only after having their limbs and heads severed or having their entire bodies incinerated were the creatures finally stopped.
Appearance[]
The Mannequin Soldiers all appeared to be identical, with chalk-white skin covering their bodies, no hair, no genitalia and several red lines and circular nodes across their bodies indicative of their Homunculus status. They all had a single large round eye in the centre of their heads, though their heads still had slight indentations showing where humans normally have their eyes. The creatures also had green blood.
Abilities[]
- Enhanced Strength - Unhampered by emotions, physical pain or any sense of self-preservation, the Mannequin Soldiers would use their full strength when attacking.
- Invincibility - The Mannequinn Soldiers were unfazed by physical damage regardless of where they were struck and would continue attacking unless their whole bodies were destroyed.
