Mankey is a Fighting-type Pokémon that resembles a cross between a monkey and a pig, earning it the classification as the Pig Monkey Pokémon. This creature was originally discovered in Kanto, but is a common site in various regions. They typically dwell in treetop colonies or in wide-open savannas.
Mankey is recognisable by its rounded body covered in cream-white fur. It has a pair of pointed ears, three digits on each extremity, a pig-like nose and perpetually frowning red eyes.
Mankeys can be calm upon a first encounter, but they are easily angered and quite vengeful. If they feel threatened, they will lash out in a furious rage, unleashing a flurry of blows upon a perceived enemy. If a Mankey is separated from its colony, its loneliness will drive it mad. If one Mankey becomes enraged, often its entire colony will fly off the deep end for no reason.
- Fury Swipes - Mankey attacks with a series of scratches that cause minor damage with each strike.
- Screech - An enraged Mankey emits a horrible scream that unnerves its opponent, diminishing their defence.
- Karate Chop - A swift, harsh blow that inflicts moderate damage.
- Thrash - Mankey goes berserk and unleashes its full strength in a series of violent strikes. In this state, Mankey cannot be calmed or recalled by a Trainer and will only stop once it wears itself out.
Mankey evolves into Primeape at Level 28.
