Magic Mirror KHX
What wouldst thou know, my Queen?

The Magic Mirror is an element of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

History[]

Original Story[]

In the fairy tale, the queen is a beautiful woman who owns a magic mirror, in which she looks vainly. Envious of the beauty of her young stepdaughter Snow White, she tasks a hunter with taking the girl into the woods and killing her. One day, however, the evil queen, thanks to her magic mirror, discovers that the girl is alive and well. She thus tries to kill her again, succeeding with a poisoned apple. Some time later she is invited to the wedding of a prince and princess, and her mirror warns her that her bride is more beautiful than she is. This bride turns out to be Snow White, awakened by the prince's love.

Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs[]

Every day, Queen Grimhilde consults her Magic Mirror to make sure she is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. But when her mirror tells her that Snow White has become more beautiful than her, the wicked stepmother becomes furious with her.

After sending the huntsman to kill Snow White, the queen asks the question again in her mirror but it continues to affirm that Snow White is more beautiful than her. In fact, he reveals to her that the princess is alive and that she is in the Seven Dwarfs' house in the woods.

House of Mouse[]

The Magic Mirror appeared frequently in the television series House of Mouse and is positioned at the entrance to the club.

Trivia[]

  • There's a recent popular theory on the Internet where fans believe that the Magic Mirror is King Magnifico from Disney's Wish because during his defeat when he was being sucked by his own staff, the Mirror's face can be briefly seen. Although, it's possible that it's just an Easter Egg, as Wish takes place in a fictional kingdom and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is said to take place on Germany, and also because the movie has a lot of more easter eggs referencing old Disney movies made over the years, as a way to celebrate their 100th anniversary.
