Ludwig

Ludwig von Koopa is one of the seven Koopalings from the Super Mario Bros. video game series. He is the oldest of the Koopalings and self-appointed leader of the group. In the early games and the TV shows, Ludwig and the Koopalings are depicted as Bowser's children, but this concept was dropped following the introduction of Bowser Jr.. He was known as Kooky von Koopa in the animated shows.

Appearance[]

Ludwig is one of the larger Koopalings, sharing a similar size to Roy and Morton. He has tan-yellow skin with cream belly scales, a green head with a cream-colored muzzle, and a spiny blue shell. His most distinguishing features are the single fang in his mouth and his wild mane of blue hair. He also has the smallest eyes among the Koopalings, topped with thin blue eyebrows.

Personality[]

Ludwig is considered to be the smartest among the Koopalings, hence why he has taken on the role of leader of the group. Arrogant and conceited, he considers himself to be a genius and regularly boasts of his apparent brilliance. In the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World cartoon shows, Ludwig went by the name of "Kooky von Koopa". His intellect was more evident in these shows as he displayed numerous feats of scientific prowess, inventing various contraptions to aid in Bowser's conquest of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Abilities[]

Ludwig, like the other Koopalings, wields a magical wand capable of firing blasts of energy at his foes. As one of the larger Koopalings, he also possesses great strength and is capable of crushing enemies under his weight or bludgeoning them after retreating into his shell which he then spins around wildly. Like Bowser, Ludwig can also spit fireballs from his mouth, making him the only Koopaling capable of this ability.

His greatest asset, however, is his inventive mind: he has built multiple machines and devices to aid in Bowser's schemes, ranging from mind-control devices to giant robots.

Ludwig is also shown to flutter jump and make duplicates of himself, as seen in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and New Super Mario Bros. U (and its Switch port).
