The Lost are common zombie-like enemies from the survival-horror game The Evil Within 2. Similar to the Haunted of the first game, these are formed after complete and rampant STEM domination of the denizens of Union, though most of them are created by accident rather than deliberately after STEM was destabilized by the removal of its Core.
Appearance[]
Like the Haunted before them, the Lost appear as human beings that have suffered horrific injuries. Many of the Lost appear to be afflicted with some kind of infection that manifests as a strange white fluid, leaking from wounds and creeping across parts of the body. Other common attributes include glowing red eyes and gaping head wounds that human beings should not be capable of surviving.
Behaviour[]
The Lost seem to be devoid of their former humanity, having been reduced to feral, irrational creatures driven solely by aggressive instinct. They constantly prowl around the virtual landscape of Union, viciously attacking and killing anyone whose psyche has not yet been broken down by the STEM system. They are known to consume human flesh, although they are often seen gathering corpses and piling them up to facilitate the creation of a Guardian.
It seems that the Lost operate with a sort of pack mentality; lone Lost are weak and unintelligent, but groups of them will use ambush tactics and set up traps in order to get the better of prey. Some Lost also play dead, lying motionless on the ground until a potential victim draws near, at which point they will lunge and start biting the victim.
Combat[]
The Lost have no specific strengths or weaknesses and can be killed in any way a normal human being can. However, they are more resilient than normal humans and are able to withstand greater punishment. They also seem to have some kind of regenerative ability; when wounded, some Lost start producing fluidic white tendrils from their wounds which partially repairs the damaged area. The regeneration is limited and cannot hold up to repeated physical trauma or revive a Lost once it is dead.
