Lord Chompy Bits, who is actually a Tyrant known as Nytemare, is a Neverborn monstrosity which appears in Wyrd Games’ Malifaux universe.

Description[]

Whilst mostly a creature of dream, when he manifests, Nytemare tends to take the form of an enormous six-limbed humanoid with a long, thrashing tail and horned head. He is an entity which feeds upon the fear of others, and has almost godlike power in the world of dreams.

History[]

One of the ancient beings known as Tyrants, Nytemare has existed since the beginning of time in Malifaux. A master in crafting dreams - or more specifically, nightmares - he has haunted the worlds created by sleeping entities throughout history. Most unusually, he has also been able to bridge the gap between Malifaux and our world since long before the opening of the Great Breach, and has been a sinister presence in the dreams of humans since time immemorial, gorging himself on the terror which his warped mind imparts to others.

Recently, however, a human child has come to Nytemare’s attention, a boy who lives on Earth. This child has shown the ability to dream as he pleases, and is unaffected by the tendrils of fear which the Tyrant is so fond of inserting into human thoughts. This child, who has become known simply as The Dreamer, is so powerful in the art of dreamcraft, that he has even managed to follow Nytemare’s ethereal trail back to Malifaux, where the pair indulge in many “games,” usually involving chasing down and gobbling up hapless victims. Whilst the Dreamer believes these to be

nothing more than his imagination running riot whilst asleep, the truth is that both he and his new companion, Lord Chompy Bits, actually manifest on Malifaux, before running to ground and consuming real people.

Needless to say, Nytemare revels in this, but their actions have come to the attention of several Neverborn who wish to harness the Dreamer’s power in their war against Mankind. Thus, Nytemare has found himself in conflict with the Neverborn, striving to protect his prize card against those who would take it away from him.
