The Leprechaun is the villain of the computer-animated horror short "Unlucky Charms".

While the work is a parody of the popular Lucky Charms cereal (its mascot being a leprechaun known as Lucky), it is played relatively straight and the horror is not designed for any comedic effect, with the Leprechaun being portrayed at all times as a serious, all-powerful threat (however this can be seen as a type of comedy in itself due to the surreal nature of a modern Leprechaun as a truly malicious entity (when modern culture has depicted them for decades as joyful pranksers) ).

History[]

The short begins at a store late at night with an employee hearing about a promotion involving the Magic Munchos cereal brand, telling people to find all three leprechaun toys within the boxes to receive a prize.

Clearly bored and not too concerned about his job the employee proceeds to rip open several boxes of the cereal and collects all three of the toys, only for a demonic voice to speak via a nearby television set, stating that now all three "totems of his kin" had been collected the "gates" had at last been set open, allowing the "fey folk" to go hunting.

The shop is then attacked by a tall, demonic Leprechaun who causes machinery and lights to malfunction, leaving the store in darkness as he slowly makes his way towards the front desk, the employee hides but knows he has to make an escape so grabs one of the toys and tosses it to distract the Leprechaun.

This seems to work and the employee dashes for freedom only to be captured by the Leprechaun, who proceeds to transport the man into a strange and frightening alternate reality where he torments the hapless human before ultimately drowning him in a pit of Magic Munchos cereal.

The short ends with the employee in a daze at his desk, whistling the "Magic Munchos" theme, only for him to slouch dead as cereal pours out of his mouth.
