Laika is one of the main characters of Slime Taoshite 300 nen. She is a Dragon that serves as Azusa's student, maid and surrogate sister.
Background[]
As a member of the Red Dragon race, she makes her debut by confronting Azusa and challenging her to a duel, proudly declaring herself the most powerful being in the Nanterre region. However, after losing the fight, she begins to rethink her views on strength and mastery. Humbled by the experience, she asks to become Azusa’s apprentice in hopes of improving herself.
Appearance[]
In her human form, Laika appears as a petite, youthful girl with an almost childlike look. She has short ginger hair styled in a bob that reaches her chin, with two black horns curving backward from each side of her head. Her eyes are a deep rose-hip red, adding to her distinct appearance.
Her outfit consists of a white blouse with puffed shoulders and wide bell sleeves, featuring a high collar tied with a black ribbon at the neck and two additional ribbons beneath the shoulder puffs. The sleeves are decorated with black chevrons and a pattern of oval shapes.
Over this, she wears a double-breasted apron-style dress that's split down the center at the abdomen, revealing a white petticoat underneath. The ensemble is cinched with a black, corset-like piece around her waist. She completes the look with solid black stockings or tights and a pair of red boots with rounded toes, accented by orange saddle and collar detailing.
In her dragon form, she is an enormous red dragon with crests behind her head.
Personality[]
As a proud member of the Red Dragon clan, Laika is typically polite and soft-spoken, carrying herself with a quiet dignity. She holds a deep respect for others, regardless of their background or her personal opinions, and places great value on fairness and strength-based hierarchy. This mindset is clearly shown when, after her defeat by Azusa, she humbly asked to become her student and even volunteered to repair the damage she caused to Azusa’s home.
However, her respectful nature vanishes when dealing with members of the Blue Dragon clan. Due to the long-standing animosity between the two tribes, Laika becomes openly wary and hostile toward them, abandoning her usual courteous demeanor.
Powers and abilities[]
Like all members of the Red Dragon race, Laika has the natural ability to breathe fire. In her dragon form, she’s also capable of flight and possesses enough raw power to demolish part—or even all—of a house. One of her signature techniques is the "Dragon Kick," which she famously used against Shalsha.
Early on while assisting Azusa, Laika showed she had a solid grasp of magical techniques, specifically by creating a protective barrier around Flatta Village using a magic circle.
She’s also quite skilled in the kitchen. Azusa has praised her cooking, especially her omelettes, calling them "amazing and well-seasoned." Interestingly, Laika uses her fire-breathing abilities to heat the pots directly when preparing meals.
