Kushnir Day is a character from Clive Barker's 1990 fantasy-horror movie Nightbreed.
Description[]
A dark-haired humanoid with a long black mane and a pair of large tusks protruding from his lower jaw, Kushnir is ugly, and proudly so. He claims his tribe, the Gogakex, are the ugliest of all the peoples on this or any other world; so ugly in fact, that they have only been able to domesticate blind species of animals, and cannot stand to be in the proximity of another of their species without being violently physically sick. Every one of them is a drummer by necessity: the drums provide a means of communication whilst avoiding the disgusting prospect of actual face-to-face communication.
Kushnir, his blood having been diluted through interbreeding with Naturals with a fetish for abnormality, tells the children who come to watch him beating his rhythms across the hard stone walls of Midian that he wishes he were uglier, because if he were uglier, then he might be more lonely, and hence a better drummer. As he says, when the drumming stops, life is over.
What became of Kushnir after the Sons of the Free attacked and destroyed Midian is unknown.
