Kuro is the pet of Chibi in the animated film Demon City Shinjuku. He is a two-headed Doberman hound that was among several such dogs that were genetically engineered to act as military guard dogs. After Shinjuku was devastated by the Demon Quake, the laboratory that created the dogs was destroyed and the specimens escaped.
At some point between the aftermath of the quake and the events of the film, Chibi discovered a two-headed Doberman puppy which took a liking to him. Naming the dog "Kuro", Chibi took the pup in and trained him as an attack dog.
When Kyoya Izayoi and Sayaka Rama came to Shinjuku to slay Rebi Ra, they ran afoul of one of the sorcerer's demon guardians. Chibi appeared and led the duo into the sewers to escape the Earth Demon, but after saving them he demanded compensation. When Kyoya and Sayaka claimed to have no money, Chibi set Kuro on them. Sayaka approached the mutant dog slowly and carefully, sensing that he hadn't been fed in a while. Reaching out a hand, she allowed Kuro to smell her and within seconds the dog ceased barking and growling, licking her hand.
A short while later, the Earth Demon had caught up to Kyoya and Sayaka. Kuro lunged at the monster, but the dog was little more than a nuisance and the demon tossed him aside. Kuro got up and ran to Chibi's defence as the Earth Demon closed in. The demon raised its clawed arm and slashed Kuro, disembowelling him before Chibi's eyes.
