A Kubikajiri is a type of cannibalistic ghost from Japanese folklore that manifests as an old man dressed in white burial shrouds who haunts graveyards and seeks out the corpses of others, taking the heads and devouring them, leaving behind a pool of blood and gore.
Kubikajiri are believed to be the restless souls of old men who have died of starvation and thus return to the world after death as ravenous monsters, though they only devour the flesh of the dead; similar to ghouls in other cultures.
