Before Hotel Transylvania 3[]

The Kraken used to reside in Atlantis, a large underwater city populated by sea monsters. However, the Kraken soon became hypnotized by the Instrument of Destruction, which caused him to destroy Atlantis and kill almost the entire population of sea monsters.

Hotel Transylvania 3[]

During the events of Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, the Kraken is first seen emerging from under the sea when the Legacy arrives at Atlantis. At first, the monsters scared of the Kraken, but when he pulls out a large microphone and greets the monsters on board by singing them a song, the monsters feel better. He then carries the ship over to debarkation area and the monsters arrive in a in hallway that leads to a huge casino.

Later, the Kraken is seen sleeping in his bed under the sea. However, Abraham Van Helsing uses the music sheet from inside the Instrument of Destruction to play a song that awakens and hypnotizes Kraken, transforming him into a hostile, destructive monster. The Kraken then emerges from the ocean and begins to violently attack the monsters, who are now at a party in a small colosseum-like building near Atlantis. Dracula attempts to stop him, but the Kraken quickly injures and nearly suffocates Dracula with his tentacles. Mavis attempts to fly to her father and save him, but Kraken grabs Mavis and slams her back down onto the floor.

In order to dehypnotize the evil Kraken, Johnny plays positive music to counter the Instrument of Destruction. Upon playing the “Macarena” song, the Kraken is liberated from the control of the Instrument of Destruction, and is happy and relaxed for good.

The Kraken is last seen waving goodbye to the Legacy as it sails back home.
